News and Announcements:

Appointments:

Patients are seen by appointment only, with an emphasis on ensuring patients have access to their physician. This is not only more convenient for patients, but also allows physicians to spend the time needed to provide quality, comprehensive care. To make a routine appointment:

  • Call 865-546-9751 and select option 3.
  • Automated reminder messages are sent in advance of your appointment.
  • During your visit, make sure we have your email address on file to receive appointment reminders via email.
  • Due to the demand for appointments, a “no show” charge will apply to patients who fail to arrive for a scheduled appointment without a 24 hour notice. A charge of $40 will be billed directly to you and is not covered by insurance. Three or more missed appointments without due notice may result in a patient being dismissed from the practice.

Telephone calls:

Our telephone number is 865-546-9751, and it is answered by office staff 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. If you have a medical problem and need to schedule an appointment, call the main number and choose option 3. Someone in the scheduling department will set up an appointment or discuss the problem with your physician if necessary. If the matter requires the attention of your physician personally, he or she will return your call as soon as possible or as the situation demands. In the event of a nonlife-threatening emergency during office hours, call the main number above and describe the emergency so a member of our clinical staff can quickly assist you.

Prescriptions:

For the safety of our patients, it is not our policy to prescribe new medications over the phone. Please try to have your prescriptions refilled when you regularly see your physician. If you need a prescription refill between appointments, you may either call the office or send your request electronically through IMA’s patient portal Athena Health.

If by telephone, please call refill line at 865-938-3401. The line is monitored 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Messages may be left 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but will be retrieved only during office hours. Please keep in mind that the physician on call for medical emergencies will not refill prescriptions. Refills requested will be sent/called in to the pharmacy within 48 hours. However, please confirm with the pharmacy that your prescription is ready before going to pick it up.

After Hours:

IMA offers Saturday morning hours 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Our phones are triaged after hours and on weekends and holidays by Access Nurse, a division of Team Health. There is always a physician on call. Please call the main office number (865-546-9751) to reach a triage nurse at Access Nurse.

The nurse or physician may direct you to one our four Summit Express Clinics  if appropriate.  Our Express Clinics treat minor illnesses and injuries after hours and on weekends and holidays.
