September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Prostate Cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. It is very treatable and curable. The key is finding it early so that you can get curative treatment. We would like to encourage all men age 50 -75 to get an annual PSA ( Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test and digital rectal exam. If you have a strong family history or are African American, you may want to consider beginning screening at age 40. Certainly if you have any urinary symptoms you should get them evaluated, but Prostate Cancer usually has very minimal if any symptoms. Remember screening is the key.
